New LDS temple in Meridian, ID! Why another one?!

LDS temple in Meridian! Why another one?!

    • Brenda L. Murkle Hodges The LDS religion has given $1.1158 billion dollars to world wide charities, since 1985…. DO the math!! The LDS church in tithing ALONE gets over $370 million a year.(A million A DAY) So that $1.1158 billion was over the last 26 years and was only 11% a year! Give me a break on the temples.

    • Brenda L. Murkle Hodges And now the LDS is building another one in Meridian, ID. Why doesn’t the LDS religion release their cost in building a temple? A temple that is closed to the public after its dedication. I believe that ALL GOD churches and temples should be OPEN to ALL HIS children! At all time! There is no reason to keep secrets….. hint LDS! People who keep secrets keep them for reasons cause they know they are doing wrong things

    • Brenda L. Murkle Hodges This is a church that doesn’t judge anyone, but keeps secrets and make us wonder if they are the ‘true church’ they would be completely open and willing about everything and would be able to justify their actions! The LDS religion is so quick to release their Good-Samaritan finances BUT refuse to release the cost on their temples! mmmm wonder why?!

You have NO idea what you are talking about! This is a pointless uninformed aregument on your end! You are right it is your opinion But Clearly they are doing something right to be able to build all of the temples and have so many members! And what goes on inside is nobodies business but the people that choose to participate! There are a lot of religions and organizations that keep things to themselves and dont let the public in and it doesnt mean that there is anything wrong with them. They are building another one in Meridian becuase of the massive amounts of people that go to the one in Boise! Why does it matter how many they build is it hurting anyone?

If you want to know so bad why dont you go join the church! and yes there are people that are 100% informed! It is the people that live it that are informed...and really they are the only ones who need to be informed. IF you are not Mormon why do you need to know? If you want to know all u have to do is talk to a missionary and they would love to teach you all about it! Its not a big deal that they are building another one....my family is Mormon and they are also building one in Guatemala right now and I am going down there in November to see it cuz that is where my dad went on his mission! I dont know all about what goes on becuase I didnt go that route but there is absoluty Nothing wrong with what they are doing!

    • Brenda L. Murkle Hodges All the LDS givings are only shown on their website. www.providentliving.org. Even my 6 year old is smart enough to build his own webpage and put anything on it. Doesn't mean it is true. I am a factual person. Bring me the facts, do not try and keep them secret. Can't people think for themselves now a days.?!

    • Tonya Ashton Ririe I am mormon. I believe in the church and it's teaching with all my heart. There are things that are dear to you, but I do not plaster my strong opinion all over facebook. Is it possible we can all believe in what we believe and just get a long? What scares you so bad about the mormon religion that you always have to prove why it's bad?

    • Brenda L. Murkle Hodges If the LDS church needs to build more and more buildings maybe they should rethink the square footage of their buildings. It would make more sense to have one bigger church that holds more then a bunch of little ones that don't hold many people. But if you think about it this way.... Do you know how much the LDS church gets from the government for every church and temple that they build?!

    • Tonya Ashton Ririe Religion is something people believe in with all of their heart. Allow those of us who chose to practice our freedom of religion to do so without you trying to prove why it is wrong. I am not imposing it on you, just asking for a little respect.

    • Brenda L. Murkle Hodges I dislike big fancy things. It reminds me of guys with big jacked up brand new trucks showing off the money that he has or the lack of brains that he has. Humbleness is to have less, cause we should all have less but give God more of our time, prayer, and work.

    • Tonya Ashton Ririe This is 1 of the 2 reasons why I deleted you off my friend list last year. You imposing your opinion constantly, when I don't recall the LDS church ever doing anything to you but help you. I recall my father in law at your house from the LDS church there to help you while asking nothing in return. Sometimes you need to learn when to keep your opinions to yourself...

It's a waste of money if a church needs to spend millions if not billions on a temple. That money could be used in better ways. Go ahead and build your temple. But do you really need marble and gold everywhere? That's like the guy who spends $200K on some fancy sports car...it's not practical but hey, I'm better then you! A waste of money to show off to the world. Build a "modest" temple, and use the remaining funds to help those in need. Joplin, MO was just destroyed yesterday. They could surely use the money and good faith of the church.

Why has this been turned into I hate the LDS?I am the only one out of my siblings that do not practice, I once was forced. You may put words in my mouth, and you may judge what I am saying. Put it all me, I will take the heat. I was born with an open heart, open mind that questions things. I think things. I was never a girl that likes to be told to not ask questions. I was once told to never question, just believe. How am I suppose to learn anything without asking? the church I go to puts on its weekly hand out every week where they stand with their offerings, building funds, and dept etc. no secrets, publicly, not insider information.

    • Lisa Murkle Adams I'm your sister and I don't practice the mormon religion for the very same reasons. We were told not to question. The more I questioned the more I found out about the LDS church. There is a book that was very helpful to me called "What is Going on in There?" It is written by a man who was once a temple worker and since has been excommunicated. It has pictures and goes through the entire temple process.

    • Lisa Murkle Adams I have been going to the Vineyard Church who does the same thing as you said Brenda. They put out offerings and ask for money for different things. They tell you what the money is needed for and it is up to you to give. They do alot for the community. I admire your curiosity and questioning. And you are right, the only one to answer your questions is God. I love you! :)

All God's churches claim to live by God's works and by God's word. churches that live by God's work and word are not secretive about their actions. God's churches should be open and honest from the begining. That they will not cause questions to be asked. That the churches actions, no matter what they are, will be forth coming and flow as God's love. Everyone should live and do on this Earth that is in the benefit for the Jews, Catholics, God believers and not God believers. Having a temple that is claimed to be of God but is closed to everyone but the mormons, and not even all mormons get to benefit the full use of this temple, is not of God.

Another secret that the LDS religion kept from answering for me when I asked, and I was a member at this time, was what the sewing/stitching meant on their garments? I was told that you are given this information when you are selected to go through the temple. Jesus Christ was open and honest about His teachings and He went to bat time and time again over them. He never kept secrets. You ask and you will receive! But I never received my answers. The deeper you get with the LDS religion the more you get. No, the more you are deeper with God the more you will get. A religion does not get you into Heaven. Only your relationship with God will get you into Heaven.

First of all I just want to say that if someone were questioning my religion and/or beliefs I would not be offended! I would see it a an opportunity to teach them about what I believe and why, and would have no problem explaining how and/or why we do things at our church. If it is so offensive to those of you that posted above, then why not just answer her questions?? The only reasons to be offended are you don't know the answers or she is right :) I am not here to "religion bash" as was stated above, however, I will have to say that I do agree with a lot of what you said Brenda. And I think that we all have the right to voice questions and concerns. If this was so offensive to those of you above, why did you continue to click on this and keep reading it. You have the CHOICE to read it or not, if it bothers you move on.

Not one of the people that were "raised" LDS or "believe" or "practice" wanted to answer any of my questions. I have a lot. So If you know your religion well enough to have been raised in it, know it well enough to believe in it, and know it well enough to practice it THEN you should know your religion 100%! But I AM ONLY HUMAN! I question, and I have doubts. If you hold the answers to my questions then post them, Do not turn this on me! I was not bashing the LDS religion. I was stating what I know of it to be true. If my truth is wrong then teach me so that my opinion is more of a factual opinion. I never once directed any of my posts at one person, not one. But I was targeted many times! WHY? Because I think for my self.

I found this in the introduction of the Book of Mormon.... "About this edition: Some minor errors in the text have been perpetuated in past editions of the Book of Mormon. This edition contains corrections that seem appropriate to bring thematerial into conformity with prepublication manuscripts and early editions edited by the Prophet Joseph Smith." So They admit that there are 'errors'. When I asked about this to a missionary they couldn't explain it. He told me that he would ask and get back to me on it. You know what he found out? I did. I was told that LDS is the only church that has a living prophet that speaks to God. Wow, then why did God send His only begotten Son to Earth? If LDS is the only church that has a prophet that personally speaks to God, then what was Jesus' reason? It kind of reminds me of the woman that killed her children because god told her to do it..... think about it.

  1. I again searched for my answers to my questions. I went to Missionary Chat link that I found on this webpage... http://mormon.org/articles-of-faith?gclid=CKeG87Pag6kCFacZQgodyi_lSg. I was not able to cut and paste my conversation that I had with a 'missionary'. This action was not available. So I brought out my camera and took pictures of my conversation. You will find these pictures on here and my facebook page.

  2. Someone above wrote that "Religion is something people believe in with all of their heart." Do not be fooled by religions. God is whom you should believe in with all of your heart. Religions should just be a way oc hearing God's word. Or learning of God's word.
As I was a member of the LDS religion, people would bare their testimonies: most would begin or end with 'and I know that (blah blah, the current president of the LDS church) is a true prophet of Joseph Smith.' Why Joseph Smith?
Also let this be said... I am not calling out every single individual that practices the Mormon religion. I am questioning the religion. The acts that a Mormon does for another person has nothing to do with the Mormon religion. A Mormon does not (or should not) perform acts of Christ in order to save the 'church's soul'. A person does works of God for themselves, to save their own soul, Not to save a whole church.

  3. "In or about the year A.D. 421, Moroni, the last of the Nephite prophet-historians, sealed the sacred record and hid it up unto the Lord, to be brought forth in the latter days, as predicted by the voice of God through his ancient prophets. In A.D. 1823, this same Moroni, then a resurrected personage, visited the Prophet Joseph Smith and subsequently delivered the engraved plates to him." This was quoted from http://lds.org/scriptures/bofm/explanation?lang=eng.... Who is Moroni? Why was he resurrected? I believe the Bible states that only Christ was to be resurrected until the second coming. Am I wrong on that one? Were there more then just Christ that have been resurrected? Do not get this confused with being raised from the dead. That means to re-enter your earthly body, and basically pick up where you left off.

  4. I went into my church today and made my first step into volunteering with it. ( I go to Ten Mile Christian) Step 1. I walked up to the pastor and told him that I want to help out doing God's work for the benefit of helping others Step 2. I was given an application!! Oh my, How wonderful that feels! :) I mean this church really truly cares about the safety of God's followers. There is even a background check (step 3.) that they do BEFORE anyone is even allowed to volunteer. That means the safety of my child is in good hands. Does the LDS religion do this? If not, WHY? Step 4. Turn in my application; the same kind that you would fill out for a job position, with references and background check and everything. Step 5. Being called to serve God by helping others or children.

  5. I had a conversation with my brother, who is getting ready for temple work. He has to have temple recommendations in order to even get accepted!! Why? My favorite Bible verse about this was found in the New Testament 2 Corinthians 3:1-3 "Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, like some people, letters of recommendation to you or from you? You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everybody. You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts."
